The first thing you will notice is that we drive on the left side of the road. Always remember to look both ways at every intersection before proceeding on your way.
The second thing is that we are very polite and always greet each other with "good morning," "good afternoon" or "good evening/night" before starting our conversations. It slows things down a bit, making for a more enjoyable conversation.
Finally, you will notice that most island guests take taxis around the island, whether from the Blowing Point Ferry Terminal, Wallblake Airport or from the resort for lunch or dinner. In fact, when you arrive here, we will be there to greet you, but a local taxi driver will take you to your destination. It is a great way to make new friends and learn about the wondrous island of Anguilla.
Today most people in Anguilla speak a British influenced variety of Standard English. The most common language other than Standard English is the island's own English-lexifier Creole language, referred to as "dialect" or "Anguillian." This language has its roots in early varieties of English and West African languages and is similar to that spoken on other islands throughout the Eastern Caribbean.
